Following an i-CAT CT Scan the SimPlant software can assess bone height, width and density and will allow a Surgical Drilling Guide to be made, which is a computer-fabricated drill guide that will direct the drill to the exact predetermined implant location, allowing implant surgeons to drill to the exact depth and angle. Any guesswork is eliminated, and consequently the risks to the patient are greatly reduced.
SimPlant allows the implantologist to explore the anatomy and place virtual implants in an interactive representation of the patient’s jaw bone. This in turn allows intuitive implant placement and assessment of the emergence profile from all angles.
SimPlant allows the proposed implant placement to be e-mailed between dentist and lab, with both being able to adjust the planning to achieve the optimum implant position in terms of both bone quality and aesthetics.
Low Radiation Dose is a bonus with the i-CAT CT scanner at less than 0.3 mSv per jaw, and exposure is kept ‘As Low As Reasonably Achievable’ (ALARA). For more information on radiation safety please visit the HPA website www.hpa.org.uk
